Some drills test speed. Some test fundamentals. The Humbler tests everything.
Formally known as the 700-Point Aggregate, this pistol standard is fired at 25 yards on a B-8 bullseye target for a possible 700 points. It blends slow fire precision, timed strings from the holster, strong-hand and weak-hand shooting, and positional work into one unforgiving benchmark.
There are no gimmicks. No close-range forgiveness. No partial credit for “almost.”
It’s called The Humbler for a reason. Run it cold. Record your score. Accept the truth.

Scoring / Pass Criteria
- Maximum possible score: 700 points
- Score using standard B-8 scoring rings
- All shots must be within time
- Shots fired over time count as zero
Performance benchmarks:
- 650+ – Advanced
- 600–649 – Solid
- 550–599 – Competent
- Below 550 – Fundamentals need work
Very few shooters approach a clean 700. That’s the point.
Coaching Tips / Variations
- Grip discipline becomes critical by the one-handed strings.
- Watch your cadence during 10-second rapid fire—most shooters outrun their sights.
- If your slow fire score is low, nothing else matters yet.
- Run this drill no more than once per session—it’s diagnostic, not volume training.
- Track scores over time. Progress here reflects true skill growth.
For shooters without 25-yard access, scale to 15 yards but tighten standards accordingly.

Closing
The Humbler drill doesn’t care about your social media clips or your best 7-yard split times. It measures real pistol skill at distance, under time, across multiple shooting conditions.
If you want an honest benchmark, this is it. Load 70 rounds. Step back to 25 yards. Run it cold. Then tell the truth about the score. Train accordingly. And when you need more ammo, check out our handgun ammo selection.
